U.S. Coast Guard LIVE
Helicopter Demonstration

Watch
a LIVE U. S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue (SAR)
Demonstration in the harbor adjacent to the lagoon including some of
the procedures the Coast Guard helicopter aircrews use to safely
hoist someone from the water and in distress up in to the
helicopter.
The aircrew will consist of four crewmembers, a pilot, copilot,
flight mechanic, and rescue swimmer. The rescue swimmer, who is EMT
qualified, is the first responder and can properly treat and prep a
survivor for hoisting. The flight mechanic operates the boom and
hoist for the deployment and recovery from the helicopter while the
pilots maintain stable flight, communications, and navigation up
front.

Mad
Science Sponsored by Northrop Grumman

Mad
Scientist Rocket Robby will present a very entertaining live show
called GASWORKS at 6:00.
This amazing outdoor event explores the mysterious world of
gasses. The show takes off with a wacky flying balloon, a bottle of
club soda, and a surprising “carbon dioxide geyser”! Things then get
exciting when chemical reactions are used to fill one balloon with
carbon dioxide and another with hydrogen. The audience then
anticipates the outcome of these balloons when placed over a flame.
Ever hear of The “Hindenburg”? Little film canisters are then
launched into the air using Alka-Seltzer tablets and water, while a
volunteer uses a super soaker to squirt the capsule as it flies. The
highlight of this event takes place when “water bottle rockets” are
launched with air pressure, followed by “fire-powered rockets”,
which travel 200 feet into the sky.
Independence Day Arts and Crafts
The Kids Freedom Parade! Kids will be able to make
their own Patriotic Hats, American Flags and Marching
Drums they can proudly display and play during the Kids
Parade.
4th Annual Kids Parade
Enjoy the kid’s parade along the sidewalk in the
Lagoon led by drum major Michael Couchois and the South
Bay Drum Circle. The parade, with moms and dads lining
the sidewalk, will make a trip from one end of the
Lagoon to the other, and then turn around to head back
to the beginning. How great is that! What memories!

JIM GAMBLE PUPPETS PRESENTS "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA"
To honor America’s birthday, Jim Gamble presents his entertaining,
marionette production for the pleasure of the entire family. Packed
with ageless good humor and upbeat music, the half hour program is
narrated by Sam, the American eagle and spotlights colorful
characters from America’s history and traditional lore. Benjamin
Franklin cavorts with a kite and Johnny Appleseed juggles red
apples. Yankee Doodle and Smokey the Bear perform to their familiar
theme songs. Red White & Blue Stars dance, Ronnie Rooster campaigns
pluckily against Colonel Sanders and a Great American Circus clown
performs dazzling trapeze tricks.

Gamble, a respected puppet designer and performer, is well-known in
California and across the nation for his entertaining productions
and beautifully crafted marionettes. Since the early 80’s his fame
as an international performing artist has spread after theater
appearances in China, Singapore, Iran, Israel, Belarus, Bulgaria,
Yugoslavia and France. He has toured extensively as national guest
artist in Japan and Korea. In 2001 he was the only American to
perform in a landmark festival in Moscow celebrating 100 Years of
Russian Puppetry. He has been invited repeatedly to appear for major
theater festivals in Europe and South America.

Jim Gamble Puppet Productions presents over 1200 performances
annually. With his staff of performing puppeteers, Gamble provides
excellent family entertainment for private events and public
festivals. His highly-respected educational programs promoting music
education and cross-cultural understanding reach thousands of school
children through outreach programs of the Los Angeles Music Center,
Orange County Performing Arts Center, California Arts Council and
Youth Audiences of the Bay Area. The company has performed
seasonally at Disneyland and for the BBC-London promotions for the
popular, Charlie and Lola television program.

Jim Gamble and company have won numerous awards for outstanding
programs. The Parent's Choice, multiple Film Advisory Board
Citations, and National Educational TV and Film Festival Golden
Apple were received for Gamble’s nine puppet videos. He was awarded
the prestigious "President's Award" by the Puppeteers of America,
and the UNIMA "Citation for Excellence in Puppetry" for his
production of Peter and the Wolf. At recent arts festivals in
Belarus, Croatia and Russia international judges awarded the “Grand
Prix” to Gamble for his performances.
